Description
In 1986, BMW for DTM homologation purposes, it was necessary to create a road-going model for the car that would dominate the tracks. Thus was born the first BMW M3! A car that, unlike its current 6-cylinder turbo counterparts, lived off small numbers! The 1986 M3 weighed just over 1100 kg and had the famous S14 engine under the bonnet with just 4 cylinders delivering 200PS!
Unlike the 2. 5-liter 6-cylinder engine available in the 325i, this smaller, lighter engine allowed for a wider rev range, lower engine weight and improved weight distribution. The five-speed Getrag dogleg gearbox f was short-shifting and very pleasant and precise to use, while the standard limited-slip differential put all the power to the ground effectively!
Apart from the bonnet, the entire bodywork was distinctive. The iconic flared fenders improved stability while the higher boot and aerodynamic appendages allowed for greater stability at high speed!
They say the original is always better. And although the E30 M3 was born out of legal necessity, the truth is that the response from customers was so good that 38 years later it remains one of the most sought-after sports cars!
This classic M3 in Black Diamond Metallic was purchased in Germany in January 1987 and arrived in Portugal in 1995. It is equipped with three-piece BBS RS rims, which greatly enhance its 80s look, electric sunroof, black leather upholstery and features a complete tool kit and Bavaria C Electronic radio with code.
