motodrome offer for sale this rather gorgeous right hand drive 1977 Land Rover 101 FC GS, in really nice condition having undergone restoration and a bare metal repaint in 2013, and having been dry stored since, only coming out for shows etc and having covered around 1000 miles since
101FC’s (Forward Control) were built 1972-78 in answer to the British Army’s need for a heavy-duty 4x4 air-transportable gun tractor that could tow a 105mm Howitzer. Sadly the Howitzer doesn’t come with this one, but, unlike many that have been subsequently converted, it still retains it’s seriously torquey Rover V8 engine.
Fitted with pioneer tools, NATO hooks front and rear (rear has been converted to accept a towball), stainless steel fuel tank, a matching set of Michelin X 100/ R16 tyres, rear bumperettes, and twin rear bench seats in the load area.
Cast from military service in 1999, it’s had one long-term owner from 2010 until it came to us, and he insists the odometer reading of just under 20000 miles is accurate. He may be right, but we can’t warrant it, especially as the odometer has stopped recording. However, these rarely covered much mileage in military use.
He further says it underwent ‘a full restoration with a bare metal repaint in Bronze Green in his ownership in 2013, and we have a big pack of photographs that support this.
All in all, it represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a really nicely restored, original spec example that’s guaranteed to be noticed wherever it goes.
