Description
Open to possible part exchange.
686 VPL dates back to 21 September 1961 and was dispatched to Coombs of Guildford. The original owner retained the car until 2003 which is quite extraordinary, the second owner then had the car for 16 years before it passed over to its third and final owner.
The car was the subject of an older restoration by Malmesbury Specialist Cars for the original owner which included new factory bonnet, doors and boot lid.
The engine was rebuilt, brightwork rechromed, new glass, wheels and tyres fitted, the interior was re-trimmed and new weather equipment fitted.
The original miles covered by this Jaguar is only 60, 696, and since the engine rebuild it has only covered a mere 1, 867 miles which can be seen in the MOT history in the file.
During this time the car has been lovingly maintained with an annual MOT and inspection.
The restoration is now showing minor signs of age, with a couple of dents and some micro blistering.
Ideally she should have a respray but we think that should be for the next owner to decide hence we are offering the car in its present condition. The car can certainly be enjoyed exactly as it is.
There is a file with the car containing MOT certificates back to 1997, registration documents and most importantly a JDHT Heritage Certificate confirming its authenticity.
With restored 'flat floor' & Types selling for well in excess of £200, 000, this represents a one off opportunity to buy the most desirable of the breed for a very reasonable price.
