Coming from a deceased estate, we have been informed this fine looking classic is thought to be the second oldest Sunbeam-Talbot in the UK, having been built in the Summer of 1938 and delivered in September of that year.
Essentially a stylish rebodied version of the Rootes Group Hillman Minx, it is fitted with a 4-cylinder side valve engine mated with a 4-speed manual gearbox.
There is some limited history including the original buff logbook, updated V5C and a summary of previous ownership plus some assorted bills and invoices for work carried out over the years. One of the owners was the magnificently named Mrs Olympia Letitia Honeyball who bought the car in 1949!
It is noted that the aforementioned summary makes reference to a body off restoration undertaken in c. 1987 when a new ash frame and hood were fitted and the car was rewired - although we have no evidence of this. There is also an invoice on file from an auction in 2016 when it was purchased by the latest owner for £10, 500 plus fees.
The car starts, drives, runs and brakes - although it has been in storage for the last few years so assume there will be some other recommissioning work required.
Overall a charming little pre-war classic ready for its new owner!
