Description
Unrepeatable opportunity to purchase an ‘as new’ Murciélago Roadster finished in the strongest combination of Giallo Orion over Nero Perseus and complete with exceptional provenance.
The Lamborghini Murciélago was introduced in 2001 as the successor to the Diablo as the flagship model for the Sant’Agata-based manufacturer. Designed in-house, this was Lamborghinis first new design in 11 years and the first new model under the ownership of German parent company, Audi. With an angular design and exceptionally low body, the car sits just under 4 feet above ground and is graced with scissor doors, following in the DNA of the Countach and Diablo that came before.
The Murciélago boasted all-wheel drive from its release, that was used to cope with the 580 bhp from the 6. 2-litre V12 engine that propelled the vehicle to 60mph in just 3. 8 seconds. 3 years into production Lamborghini would release the Murciélago Roadster, an open-top version of their flagship supercar. The design of the roadster was arguably more striking, with a re-designed engine cover and exhaust outlet. The manual roof design entailed that minimal weight was added in the Roadster, ensuring that performance figures were unaffected, but with heightened driving sensations.
Furlonger are delighted to offer this astonishingly well-preserved Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster, showing a mere 545 kilometres or 338 miles from new. Chassis no. 01846 was completed in November 2005 and sold via Lamborghini Stuttgart to its primary custodian, Peter Kaus, on 1st July 2006. Owner of the renowned Rosso Bianco Collection at Aschaffenburg, numbering some 200 collectible motor cars, Kaus also purchased a Murciélago 40th Anniversary coupé that same date.
Chassis no. 01846 is finished in the typical yet unmistakable shade of Giallo Orion over a luxuriously upholstered Nero Perseus leather interior, with contrasting stitching in Giallo. In addition to the car’s well suited colour combination, its specification included; E-Gear semi-automatic transmission, extended carbon package, wind protector, parktronic parking aid and the all-important carbon fibre X-frame brace in the engine compartment.
This Murciélago Roadster would form part of Kaus’ extensive collection until 2014 when it was acquired by another collector who also purchased his Murciélago 40th Anniversary coupé as a ‘matching pair’. Since its purchase, the Roadster remained in meticulously monitored long-term storage, and maintained by trusted marque specialists. Following this, the vehicle would head to the UK to again form part of an exceptional collection of low mileage and well-preserved classic cars.
Now offered for sale publicly for the first time since 2017, this time-warp Murciélago Roadster poses an incredible opportunity to purchase a profoundly rare and highly collectible contemporary V12 Lamborghini. The car is complete with UK registration, its manuals, spare key and bag with the tools for the soft top; it will enjoy a full service in our workshops prior to sale. Showing just 545 kilometres from new, totally indistinguishable from new, chassis no. 01846 is likely one of, if not the finest Murciélago Roadster in the world today, and eligible to continue to grace the very finest of collections.
