Description
What an amazing conversion the Viking Campervan is, created by a company called Motorhomes International at the factory in Stanbridge, Bedfordshire. They were a popular alternative to conversions like Devon & Westfalia. With the premium, Spacemaker (or SuperViking) roof, it offers a very unique opportunity of a full 6 berth , allowing 4 people to sleep in the roof & 2 more "Downstairs"! Of course this also allows a smaller family of 4 to all sleep up top and keep the day time arrangement set up below, making for a really relaxed camping experience.
Look through the pictures & the video below & be stunned at the amount of storage this bus offers, its such a cleverly designed camper.
It boasts a twin gas hob stove with a grill below, which ingeniously slides out of its cabinet, fold the legs down & you can use it outside! As you can see you can also attach the table to the back of it to prep your meals. Of course this can also be used inside to make your bacon butty's & a cuppa & the table clips on the wall to create your perfect dinette.
You can if you wish fold back the centre rear seat to create an "L" shaped kitchen , with further cupboards, drawers & even the sink and draining board, all within that perfect space. Just underneath is your fridge, under the cutlery drawer.
It also benefits from an electric hook-up.
The roof lifts up easily, aided by gas struts & the canvas is in very good condition, if I was highly critical , I might replace the plastic window sections, as one has a slight crack in & have gone slightly opaque after all these years, but still very usable & not essential.
This lovely example is actually owned by Darren, who is a long term Volkswagen enthusiast & is a well known air cooled specialist.
Darren has known this great camper for the last 10-12 years, having looked after it for the previous owners. When the owners retired from driving Darren jumped at the chance to buy it, as he explains, "To find such a rare, original & unspoilt Viking , these days is extremely difficult, so you know when the chance arises, you have to make your move".
Its finished in Pastel White L90D & the upholstery is completely original.
Its powered by its original 2litre type 4 engine, which drives beautifully & benefits from having had the gearbox reconditioned and a new clutch recently fitted. Just one addition that's not factory is the superb power steering, which make tight manoeuvres a breeze. Something else has now caught Darrens eye, so has decided to let somebody else enjoy this great camper.
On the market for just £16995, we're based near the golden sandy beaches of Croyde, Saunton, and Woolacombe and a stone's throw from the rolling hills of Exmoor National Park, so it's the perfect place to come and find your new bus. Thank you for reading.
