The 1990 iteration of the Suzuki RGV250, known as the VJ21 model, represented a significant evolution from its predecessors. It was a motorcycle born out of Suzuki's rich racing heritage, particularly influenced by the company's successes in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing scene. The RGV250 series drew heavily from the design and technology of the championship-winning RG500 Gamma, translating race-derived features into a street-legal format.
The 1990 RGV250 was powered by a liquid-cooled, two-stroke V-twin engine with a 249cc displacement. This engine configuration was notable for its compactness and efficiency, delivering high power outputs relative to its size. The engine produced around 58 horsepower, which was substantial for a bike weighing approximately 128 kg (282 lbs). This power-to-weight ratio made the RGV250 a formidable performer in its class, capable of exhilarating acceleration and nimble handling.
