Here we have a nice project for someone - an MGB GT finished in red with the black leather and red piping. As it is a project, the interior will need to be restored but it nice to see that what is there is possibly original. It also has a Webasto-style sunroof, which is a nice period touch. The MG also sits on a set of wire wheels, again very period, and really do set the car off against its red paintwork. As you can appreciate the paintwork and body also need restoring, however, the body would appear to be very solid - although as we always say, please come and see the car for yourself so you know exactly what you are getting. The MG comes with a selection of parts that may come in handy when you take on the restoration. It would appear to be original in its specification and is believed to be still on its original registration number, which is always nice to see.
Interestingly, the current vendor is a well know motoring journalist who bought the car in 2021 with every intention of bringing it back to its former glory. He must have seen something in it that others didn’t, as at that point we believe that it was still on the road and that’s when he started to restore it. There are a host of invoices from that period showing parts bought and it was still MOT’d at that time.
There is a lot of paperwork with the MG, both from days gone by and from a couple of years ago. This is backed up with a large selection of old MOTs and tax discs, along with some older V5 details showing previous owners and even details of the car being sold through the years - nice things to have in your history. To recap, this is a project that would keep you entertained through the coming winter nights. Maybe with the right approach and a bit of knowledge, it might not be as difficult as you may think. Come and see for yourself and hopefully you will be the one to take it on and preserve the MG as it deserves to. These earlier cars are becoming very rare now and should be cherished and kept alive for us all to enjoy.
