Description
Jaguar XJ-S Pre HE date of manufacture February 1978 and supplied by Henlys Bournmouth. Fitted with the rare and highly desirable factory manual gearbox. Initially the XJ-S was offered with a choice of either manual or automatic transmission, but the manual was eventually dropped as the gearboxes fitted were those left over from V12 E-Type production and when they ran out of stock it was decided not to manufacture any more. An incredibly rare car, one of only 350 manual Pre HE XJ-S cars ever built and according to the Jaguar pre-HE register, one of only 76 cars worldwide recorded. The manual Pre HE cars are difficult to find and are more scarce than a flat floor outside bonnet lock E-Type ! This is the model tipped by many experts to be the one to buy in terms of future value potential and desirability.
Finished in the rare colour of ( for an XJ-S ) Squadron Blue with a Biscuit interior. The car is accompanied by an outstanding history file which contains older MOTs, Jaguar Heritage Certificate, passport to service book, drivers handbook, various invoices for maintenance and service records dating back to August 1978 also included an original XJ-S brochure. The car has been fitted with the larger throttle bodies and an adjustable ECU supplied by the renowned AJ6 Engineering, a record of which is in the history.
Work just done, week commencing 07/ 10/ 24.....
New fuel pump, Fuel surge/ sump tank cleaned and fitted with a new filter, New under bonnet fuel filter, 12 new plugs, New Lumintion Optronic electronic ignition system, New Luminition plug leads, New distributor cap.
I have driven the car for approximately 15 miles on trade plates, and had the car ticking over for an extended period. The car held normal temperature, plus the gearbox and clutch felt good. E/ windows work as does the C/ locking and all instrumentation. A super rare XJ-S well worth restoring
This car is in need of restoration. If no interest I will go through the car over the coming winter.
