Purposeful looking example
This Defender was originally built in 1987 and was registered in 1999 following its release from the MOD.
Given the bespoke nature of the vehicle, we are indebted to the vendor for providing us with a summary of the main features of the car which can be viewed within the documents file. The main points are :
Ex Military, light air craft support vehicle, starting life as a 90 Hardtop with windows
Retro fitted Defender 200 Tdi engine with 5 speed LT77 gearbox – mileage has been set to be in line with this engine
Professionally extended Richards galvanised chassis – not a Discovery chassis
Galvanised front and rear 300 Tdi axles with galvanised axle casings
Heavy duty fuel tank guard, box section rock sliders, front bumper with tapered ends
Electric winch (10k)
ARB Air Lockers rear diff with ARB compressor
Matt Lee heavy duty steel rims with heavy duty BF Goodrich tyres
Td5 110 high capacity rear body tub professionally shortened with Ifor Williams rear canopy
Td5 facelift dash, centre panel switches, and gauges
The overall effect of all the changes is impressive - this Landy certainly looks purposeful and rugged.
The tent box fitted to the roof is a nice touch (untested) as is the rear tow bar, snorkel, LED light bar, and front bull bar.
Cosmetically there is some oxidization and isolated corrosion. Given the age of the car, this is to be expected to some extent.
We have bills and invoices on file for approaching £7k – including £1750. 80 for the chassis and £660 for the aforementioned Ifor Williams canopy presently fitted.
Perfect for ‘green laning’, this Landy has everything you need to go off roading at a price substantially lower than what it would cost to convert a vehicle yourself.
