Description
Very nice MG MGC. After many thousands of kilometres, I offer this MGC for sale. It is in the most desirable and rare configuration because the steering is on the left with the European sheet metal dashboard (unlike the original US models with the three windscreen wipers and the big foam dashboard). I have used this car a lot and on long journeys.
It has been made more reliable: - The engine has been rebuilt with new crankshaft bearings, the cylinders have been de-iced and new piston rings fitted; the valves have been carefully run-in and new gaskets fitted throughout; - The carburettors have been rebuilt; - Electronic ignition has been fitted; - Brake, oil and water hoses have been replaced; - The electrical system has been renovated and a circuit breaker fitted.
Safety has been improved: - Fitting of ventilated brake discs and EBC Yellow high-performance brake pads. - Fitting of four Spax gas-charged shock absorbers to replace the lever-type shock absorbers. - 190 tyres instead of the original 165. - Refurbishment of the master cylinders - Fitting of aviation hoses. Engine operation has been improved.
- To replace the two original SU carburettors, three Y-shaped intake manifolds were made to fit three carburettors - Electronic ignition - Stainless steel sports exhaust system fitted. Body: - The paintwork is shiny and tight, with no dents or corrosion - The alignments are very good and the doors work well - The chrome is shiny. Interior: - All the dials work perfectly. The speedometer had been refurbished by a specialist. The dashboard is fitted with a Becker car radio, a top-of-the-range model from the period, in perfect working order. - The seats are in their original leather, which is unusual, and have a very nice patina. - The mohair soft top is in very good condition. - The seat belts are retractable. This MGC is very pleasant to drive. The gearbox is smooth and the overdrive is very responsive. It doesn't overheat, doesn't consume oil and doesn't smoke. Oil pressure is good both hot and cold. The (major) work done on the carburettor has improved acceleration and saved around two litres per 100 km (with the original set-up, it's virtually impossible to adjust the carburettor correctly). Improvements to the chassis, tyres, shock absorbers and brakes have made handling excellent. Braking is powerful and corner entry incisive, while maintaining a good level of comfort (compared to the three Triumph TR6s and the TR4 I had, which were far inferior in terms of road holding). And music lovers beware! The sound provided by the stainless steel line is absolutely fabulous! I also had the pleasure of being awarded a prize this summer at a meeting where ten cars were selected out of more than two hundred. This is a rare car (two years old) in very good working order and very reliable. I have driven it up to 7000km in a year without any problem. The car will be serviced for sale (oil change, greasing...) the technical inspection will also be done at that time. No exchange please.
