Description
(Photo note - the first few photos of this Shelby GT350 are from our showroom, shot Oct 14th. Other pics are from documentation a while back, just FYI.) True Shelby GT350! This is NOT a ‘tribute’ Shelby made up out of some old Mustang hatchback! We have copies of the original Shelby window sticker & equipment list, a full accounting of owners back to the fellow who bought it new in Lompoc, CA. In fact, the car lived in SoCal its whole life before joining a Colorado collection eight years ago. The car is listed in the Shelby American Register and was autographed by Carrol years ago.
Records indicate it still has its original 289 engine, but the Borg-Warner 4-speed transmission has been replaced with a Tremec 5-speed for more relaxed cruising. (The original transmission is crated and comes with the car). Another change was from the original less-popular Sapphire Blue to the also-available red with white stripes. An exhaustive restoration was carried out by the second owner in the mid-‘90s and the car has only covered 3000 miles since. It has the owner’s books and a file of records dating all the way back to 1966. Always in California—never in the rust belt!!
The car has just received a new clutch assembly, flywheel, tune-up and complete fluid change, so it’s ready for new adventures with the next fortunate owner. Sure, a white-with-blue-stripes original ’65 in concours condition is ‘better,’ but it’s also more than three times this price and too perfect to actually take out and have experiences with.
This one triggers the collector-car trifecta: (1) It’s a hugely desirable model, (2) in fabulous condition with great records, and (3) will prove to be a good investment in years to come.
If you are considering one of the classic or collectible cars on our website, be assured that coming for a personal visit to inspect first-hand the car that has captured your fancy is very welcome. We practice transparency in all of our descriptions, but believe that nothing is as convincing as seeing and touching the car yourself. Plan a few hours, so you can see, touch, feel and drive the car, and enjoy a tour of our restoration shops to see ‘where the magic happens.’ If your schedule is too committed, we also welcome a knowledgeable agent visiting for you. Please understand that sales are final, so the time for all due diligence is before you buy. Our cars are sold AS-IS, since most are on consignment from owners. We follow FTC guidelines for all sales and certainly want our future clients leaving more glowing reports among our reviews!
