1962 FERRARI CALIFORNIA SPIDER 250 GT LHD tribute
Description This Ferrari was originally delivered new to Italy in 1962 as a Ferrari 250GTE.
It was then bought by a prominent Ferrari collector who was also an official dealer for Ferrari at the time. The exquisite lines of this beautiful all aluminium body were commissioned in the eighties and completed by the renowned Ferrari coach-builder Mario Allegretti of Modena; a man renowned for coach-built Ferrari cars. He completed the craftsmanship to the highest of standards and built to the exact specification of an original California Spider. The paintwork was completed by Egidio Bonfatti of Modena and the trim was executed by Fratelli Luppi, both Ferrari Specialists. Simply put if you put this car next to an original it is extremely difficult to tell which is which. It is a nut and bolt copy of an original which was used as a reference for the build of this car.
The car sits on correct chrome Borrani wheels & has a full set of Period Veglia instrumentation as per an original.
The exterior Ferrari red paint is flawless as is the tan interior.
We have photographed and driven this car and can attest to its excellence ; attention to period details.
The Veglia Speedometer is showing a mere 4700 KMs since build.
Modena Workshop 2019 with Mauro Forghieri, and Egidio Bonfatti inspecting the Ferrari 250 GTE with Allegretti California Spyder Style Re-Body.
Regarding the 1962 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder re-body,
the car was inspected by the Ferrari Concours judge a few months ago to confirm the whole story and enclosed are a couple of photographs with Mario Allegretti with the car.
We have the declaration of Stefano Allegretti (2016) confirming that the car was rebodied by Mario Allegretti, in the eighties.
The Mario Allegretti work has been confirmed by Enzo Forghieri (Iconic ingegner of Enzo Ferrari) and Egidio Bonfatti from Modena, who is the specialist of Ferrari Body work & Painting.
It has been sparingly used on high days and holidays by the current elderly owner who commissioned the car. Ferrari Engine 2953 cc, 128 F type, 12 valve SOHC V12, power 240 hp, top speed 252 kmh, wheel base 2400 mm, length 4318 mm, width 1600 mm, height 1270 mm, weight 957 kg
