Description
The last of the air-cooled 911s, the 993-generation model was introduced in 1994, and lasted in production for only four years, being ousted by the controversial water-cooled 996, which signalled the demise of the well-loved and iconic air-cooled flat-six engine.
At the end of 1995 Porsche introduced the Carrera 4S, a four-wheel version of the 911 featuring a 3. 6 litre Varioram Flat-Six producing 285 bhp and 250 lbs/ ft torque.
The 993's four-wheel drive system was refined and weighed 50% less than the system used on the 964 version that preceded it. Total weight came in at under 1, 500 kg allowing the 4S to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5. 3 seconds in pretty much whatever weather conditions it fancies!
The 4S has much of the same look as the Turbo, with wider rear arches, a front spoiler and sportier rocker panels. It also features the 18″ Turbo wheels and a lower ride height than the standard Carrera. The 4S uses the Turbo’s chassis as well as its vented discs and 4-piston callipers.
The example we are delighted to offer for sale is finished in Black Pearl Metallic over a stunning special order Nephrite Green leather interior. Additional factory options include: 6-Speed Manual Transmission, Seat Heating System, Stronger Battery, Limited Slip Differential, Radio, Electrically Adjustable Sports Seats, Rear Window Wiper, Sound Package, 92 Litre Fuel Tank, Electrical Sliding Roof and Air Conditioning.
The car was first delivered to Germany on the 28th May, 1998 via Porsche Zentrum Wiesbaden. It remained in Germany until 2020 with known ownership and history from delivery. In 2020 it was imported and registered in the United Kingdom and shortly after sent to Porsche Central Operations in Reading for a full service and mechanical overhaul. Once the work was completed the car was sent to Topaz detailing for a full detail before applying paint protection film to the entire car.
A Porsche Classic head unit with Apple CarPlay has been fitted as well as a 16-channel amp and upgraded speakers throughout, all of which sits behind the original trim and sounds incredible. Over the past 4 years more than £30, 000 has been lovingly invested into the car, it looks and drives exceptionally well and is a true testament to its previous owners.
For many, the 993 is the true ‘high water mark’ of the 911 family, and as such they remain prized by collectors, enthusiasts and drivers around the globe. This fully documented example is surely one of the finest on the market today and truly needs to be seen to be appreciated. Contact us now for more information or to arrange a viewing.
