Description

Unveiled at the Brussels motor show in 1964, the Ferrari 330GT 2+2 was an instant hit. Fitted with an all-new 4. 0L Type 209 Ferrari V12 and designed by the legendary Pininfarina, it was to be expected! Running in production for just 4 years, there were two series’ created and the distinguishing features being the headlights on the front end. Series 1 cars had quad units whereas Series 2 cars had singles. Around 1, 000 examples were built in their entirety. It's a sleek and classy design that has aged unbelievably well. The car available here is perhaps one of the most unique and beautifully put together examples of a Series 1 car. It is believed to be just 1 of 44 Right Hand drive UK Supplied cars that was provisionally owned by legendary UK racing driver Patsy Burt. It is finished in a 1 of 1 colour combination, being the only Series 1 Ferrari 330GT 2 + 2 to sport the ‘Burt Blue’ metallic paintwork. The colour was chosen to match her race cars of the time, and Patsy collected the car (along with five tins of paint) from the Ferrari factory before driving it back from Italy. This is documented in the car’s present and very well-maintained history record which includes an original invoice from 1965. There’s even written communication about the decision for the interior finish – strongarmed by Ferrari into a beautiful Grigio hue. Fast forward a few decades to 2018, the car underwent a full nut and bolt restoration with a ‘no expense spared’ approach. The total cost for this was in the region of £380, 000. The standard of work is sublime and certainly puts the car in its very best condition. The paintwork, engine, interior and chrome work are as to be expected. It is believed that no other 330GT has received as much care in its revival and may now only be 1 of 26 RHD UK Supplied cars – many of the others were rebodied as 250GTs based on the underpinnings being very similar. Prior to the restoration, the car had covered 86, 495 miles. Since it's restoration in 2018, it has only covered 1, 104 miles. Throughout its lifetime there have been a number of different owners who cherished and cared for the car and it appeared in many different publications. In 1981, the car was a winning example in its class at a concours show in Avisford Park. The car and its owner of the time, Bill Branton, also featured in an extensive article of the 1984 Autumn issue of Supercar Classics magazine. In 1996, the car succumbed a bold triple test for an issue of Thoroughbred and Classic Cars in which it was deemed the most appealing of the three comparative cars. The specification for this beautiful example is itemised fully on our website and this is without question the finest example of its kind, backed up by a well-documented history file that exudes its provenance. We welcome any and all questions you may have. As you would expect of a Premier GT car, it has been meticulously sourced to be made available to you.
