Description
The Morgan Roadster was introduced in 2004, replacing the long-running Morgan Plus 8. The model looks pretty much identical to its predecessor and utilises the traditional Morgan steel chassis and wooden body frame construction. It was with the powerplant that major modernisation took place, with a Ford sourced, 3. 0-litre V6 engine replacing the ageing Rover V8 unit. Whilst of a reduced capacity, the new engine was physically smaller, lighter and more powerful – with a claimed 223 bhp available – giving the revised model a sub 6 second 0-60mph acceleration time and 130+ mph top speed.
A second Series model was subsequently introduced with an enlarged engine and the Roadster remained in production until 2019. It is thought that only around 1700 of the first Series cars were made.
This particular Roadster was registered new in the UK in November 2004. It was always garaged and regularly maintained, but only covered a limited mileage in the hands of 3 caring owners before being purchased by a Jersey-based owner in 2020. At that point it had clocked up just under 12, 500 miles. Since then, it has remained a cherished, lightly used vehicle.
The car is accompanied by a service record from day one, together with UK MOT history from 2007 to 2019. It runs and drives perfectly as might be anticipated with such a well cared for but sparingly used vehicle.
The Roadster is fitted with the optional 16” stainless steel wire wheels and has the added benefit of electric power assisted steering - fitted in 2021.
By anyone’s standards, this is a very smart looking car with first rate dark blue paintwork and gleaming brightwork. The matching dark blue mohair hood is in very good condition and a chrome plated luggage rack is fitted over the spare wheel to provide a little more carrying capacity for touring.
The Oxford Blue leather interior, wool carpeting and veneered dashboard are in excellent condition – all looking near immaculate.
This is a very desirable open-top Morgan in excellent, low-mileage condition. The traditional driving experience is still there but usefully enhanced with a modern Ford powerplant and power assisted steering. It is equally ready for sunny Sunday drives or longer touring trips.
The car is currently Jersey registered and where required, we can assist with shipping and importation processes. We can ship worldwide.
