1981 MGB LE Roadster. Metallic Bronze with orange striped deck chair upholstery and black hood and tonneau. The last 1000 MGBs were produced and completed in October 1980 and designated the Limited Edition. The LEs were fitted with front chin spoilers and the distinctive Stag-type alloy wheels. Wire wheels were an option on the roadster version and the car was finished in bronze metallic paint with gold LE stripes running the length of the cars bodywork. The interior was upholstered in orange and brown striped cloth trim and this last of the line MGB carried a price tag of £6, 445. A total of 420 Roadsters and 580 GTs were made before the closure of Abingdon and the last of each model now resides with the Heritage Trust alongside their famous collection of historic vehicles at the Heritage Centre, Gaydon. This car is number 104 of 420 roadsters built between the 8th August and the 22nd October 1980. Built on 18th September 1980 it left the factory with the wire wheels option as shown on the LE Certificate of Authenticity which accompanies the car. The originality of this LE is remarkable considering it is now 43 years old, it still retains the correct red and silver badges, front spoiler and gold body decals, most recently lots of money has been spent which includes a full service and brake overhaul, brand new carpet set, new old stock sun visors and a brand new vinyl hood. Now having covered just 83, 000 miles from new this MG is ready for its next adventure, the car presents very well with the paintwork still displaying a great lustre and the classic deck chair trim showing minimal wear. Mechanically the car is very strong with good oil pressure, starting easily and driving very well with the overdrive gearbox operating correctly. The underside is very good with a solid chassis and no signs of any corrosion. The panel gaps and shuts are straight and true and the hood watertight.
