Description
2001 Aprilia Tuono 1000cc v-twin. There's no other Tuono available with this level of spec and this price - carbon bits everywhere and the rarest of rare exhaust systems - twin undertail Renegade pipes with carbon Blue Flame end cans. The sale will also include the original carbon Renegade cans, which can be refitted if you're a purist.
Only 21, 287 miles. I ride my other bike now and the Aprilia is just stored. As such, it is currently SORN but I have no concerns over its condition so will gladly get a fresh MOT done for the asking price.
As well as the unique undertail exhaust setup, the bike has:
Fully adjustable Gilles rearsets.
Renthal fat bar.
V-Trec stubby folding adjustable brake + clutch levers.
Braided brake & clutch lines.
Extended number plate holder.
Factory Racing anodised ally front brake reservoir.
Rizoma anodised ally clutch + rear brake reservoirs.
Wavey brake discs.
Ohlins steering damper.
SACHS adjustable rear shock.
Carbon frame protectors.
Carbon swingarm protectors.
Carbon hugger.
Carbon heel plates.
Carbon exhaust heat shields.
Carbon tank protector.
Carbon rear light shroud.
Clear LED rear light unit with integrated indicators.
ST2 Systems brake module (automatically activates the brake light under heavy engine braking without needing to touch the brake lever/ pedal).
Stomp Grips.
Leather retrimmed rider seat - matching black + white.
Leather retrimmed pillion seat - matching black + white (couple of small marks).
Rear solo hump.
Uprated MPL Tuning clutch slave cylinder.
Double bubble tinted screen.
GIPro LED gear indicator.
Denali SoundBomb 120db airhorn.
Crash bungs (both engine and frame).
Radiator + oil cooler stone guards.
Metal chain guard.
Ozram Nightbreaker headlight bulbs.
Oxford LED mini indicators.
The sale does not include the private plate, which is available subject to separate negotiation (see below). The bike was originally an RSV Mille from the factory but suffered some small scratches to the swingarm (see the picture) in September 2007, which (insanely) resulted in it being written off as Cat C. Insurance rules require any "damage" to a swingarm to be classed as "structural" - hence the frankly daft categorisation. But there you go - full disclosure. Following that, the front end was completely converted to Tuono spec, leaving the original RSV Mille rear end in place (which is, subjectively, better looking that the standard Tuono rear end anyway).
I've owned this bike for the last 9 years and absolutely love it to bits. It's a brute. It's deafeningly loud if you have the baffles out and the huge torque makes it set off like a scalded cat if you prod the throttle, and it pulls like a train right through the rev range. The only reason I'm selling it is because of arthritis in my knees and wrists meaning I need to ride something with a less aggressive posture. Otherwise I'd still be riding this all day, every day, as there is literally nothing else quite like it anywhere on the UK roads.
The paintwork has a few marks and imperfections here and there, but despite meticulous TLC it IS still a 22 year old bike. If I was keeping it I'd be having her resprayed (keeping the current colour scheme, just freshening it up) but at the end of the day that's a decision for the new owner. The asking price doesn't even come close to representing the true value of the bike plus all the goodies and extras on it, and I could make a lot more putting it back to standard and selling the extra goodies separately, but that would fundamentally change the nature of the bike, which I don't want to happen. I've kept it in storage for the last 2+ years, hoping to get back on it but reality is that I won't, and it won't do it any favours to sit in my garage for years to come, gathering dust. I'm in no rush to sell, so silly offers won't be entertained. This bike is completely unique and whoever gets it will, I'm sure, fall in love with it just as much as I did.
The private plate H8RSV is not included in the sale and will be coming off with a standard age-related plate going back on. It will, however, be available subject to separate negotiation, as it's valued at £8-900 on its own (go look up an RSV plates on ebay with a single digit number prefix if you don't believe me). That said, I'd be willing to do a bit of deal on pricing at £3, 750 if someone wants both the bike and the plate together.
It goes without saying, no test rides without the full asking price in my hand first. No viewings with multiple people either.
I'm located in Horwich, Bolton (BL6). Thanks for looking :)
