Description
220SE Coupé 1961 manual with sunroof in beautiful condition. Professionally restored and displayed at Mercedes World museum before my ownership. LHD US car that was very solid when imported (I can only identify one place where the body has been repaired). The underbody is like new. The car can truly be described as Condition 1.
Paintwork in metallic steel blue is very high quality. The car is jaw-droppingly beautiful both outside and in, with an extremely high quality leather interior, with restored wood trim with a mirror finish. Chrome work is all as new and fabulous. All window rubbers replaced. Sunroof internals are as new and all seals replaced. Engine bay very neat and tidy, with all new pipework and clips. The clutch was slightly noisy, so I have replaced it completely. New valve rockers recently installed, which ensure a lovely creamy engine sound, Everything works as it should.
I have fitted a 123 electronic distributor (fully-working original will come with the car), new headlight units, new engine bay firewall and under-bonnet insulation, new rear springs and seats. I have also fitted seatbelts front and rear. I also gave the fuel system and tank a complete clean out after it had been standing in the museum.
A wonderful car that attracts compliments wherever it goes. Recent touring holiday in France was an absolute dream.
The car comes with tens of thousands of pounds of receipts, original sales brochure (which is a work of art in itself), original service books and a copy of the original data sheet which shows it is a matching-numbers car.
I love this car, but am looking for something that needs a little work. Sometimes I think I enjoy working on the cars more than driving them!).
