Description

I built and have owned this from new.
It started life as a gel coated fibre glass shelled rolling chassis from DJ Sportscars in Harlow and was built into a completed vehicle with a 3. 5 engine converted from a Stromberg carb'd engine to an EFI airflow metered version. This was used to build and SVA the car and then the upgraded engine was sourced and fitted using the bigger XJ6 airflow meter and ancillaries. This upgraded engine is the one currently fitted and is a John Eales supplied 4. 6 Rover V8 cross bolted short engine. The heads have larger valves, triple cut valve seats, ported head. It has a fast road cam, shorter wider plenum trumpets, Jaguar XJ6 Airflow Meter and Injectors (inlet recesses enlarged for wider spray pattern), Sump plug guard, Rising Rate adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Remote oil take-off and filter, Oil cooler, Catch tank, test point for fuel pressure, high performance coil, ignition amplifier, 10mm Plug leads.
This vehicle is a Rush De-Dion square black powder coated frame with the following running gear, 7. 5 rear axle, R380 gearbox, Sierra Cosworth 278mm front discs, Sierra disc rear brakes, fully adjustable coil over Gaz shock absorbers, Explo fuel tank, Pacet competition electric fan with separate temperature setting control, 3 piece 17inch Image wheels, Momo steering wheel, heater with screen vents, all leather seating, dash, side pockets and transmission tunnel top, four point Willans safety harness, Toyo R888R tyres on 205/ 40/ 17 front wheels and Toyo R888 on 245/ 40/ 17 rears (No R888R's in this size when purchased) Full wet weather equipment - see photos (only used once when I got caught out) Thatcham immobiliser, in-car brake bias adjuster fitted but not currently connected at balance bar end, fully carpeted. It comes with DJ Sportscars Dax Rush Assembly Guide, Rover SD1 Manufacturers Workshop Manual, Rover V8 maintenance and repair manual, Wiring diagrams for all specific equipment and associated relays etc.,
All the receipts for both the build, ongoing development and maintenance coming to a total in excess of £32K are included as are 5 photographic albums (plus many extra photos) of the build and development.
There is a current MOT until 23rd May 2025
There are many spares from gaskets to an ECU. These include two Toyo T1S front tyres (205/ 40/ 17), airflow meters (2AM and 3AM), a "Blackbox Automotive Industries" ECU (This may be a chipped version), coil, plugs, injectors, plug leads, oil filters, high pressure fuel pump, Sierra Cosworth Rising rate adjustable fuel regulator, Front brake pads etc. All these items, except the oil filters, are used but fully serviceable. There is also the original SVA bars and indicator side light units. I was looking for a car build project which I could determine not only what the car looked like but where I made the decisions on what components would be used. I was impressed by the stance of the Rush and the many options which you could build into the vehicle.
It passed SVR first time and has since been used as a fine weather top down transport.
It is in very good condition and has been looked after in all aspects.
In the 20 years of its life I have done 7 Trackdays. However the only reason I bought the Toyo R888 tyres was I had a rear puncture and you couldn't get a matching tyre so thought I'd change all round. It wasn't because the tyres were worn out. The spare tyres, which are the originals, have 6mm tread remaining.
It is a car which attracts a lot of attention and complimentary comments wherever it goes and and has been a joy to own. However getting in and out for my wife is becoming difficult so unfortunately it will be used very little so it is time for someone else to enjoy it.
It is a car which not only has the performance but a quality appearance.
