Description
1966 Triumph 6T Thunderbird 650cc. Matching numbers. Exceptional example from the last year of manufacture of this iconic motorcycle. Owned by me since 2017 when it was fresh from a comprehensive rebuild commissioned by the previous owner and carried out by a local Triumph restoration specialist.
It also underwent an earlier restoration in 1990.
The history file contains all invoices from both restorations plus a fully detailed record of all work carried out, hours spent and all invoices for the more recent restoration. I have recently replaced all of the top end gaskets, tappet adjusting screws and locknuts. Headstock bearings replaced with tapered roller bearings.
New silencers and battery just fitted. Oil changed.
The bike also benefits from the following upgrades:- QD rear hub (fitted new in 2016). 12 volt electrics with Pazon electronic ignition. Indicators (subtly fitted and removable without trace) invaluable in modern traffic. Workshop manual. Dust cover. This was the first classic motorcycle I purchased and it became one of a collection of six. Having decided it is time to retire from motorcycling it is reluctantly the last to go. It is a perfect example of the classic era of British motorcycling, in excellent condition, and ready to be enjoyed by the next owner. Viewing welcome. Further photographs on request.
