Description

For sale is my 2004 (05 model year) 3 Litre V6 petrol, Jaguar S-Type Sport manual. The car has 10 months MOT, a fresh service with full service history and is ULEZ. If you're a follower of S-Types, you'll know how rare this spec is, being a well optioned facelift manual. The cars options are: British Racing Green metallic paint, Champagne interior with Aluminium inserts, Sport pack with 18 inch Triton wheels, Manual gearbox, Touchscreen nav system, Xenon headlights, heated front windscreen, auto lights, front and rear Parking Sensors, and the Premium Sound Alpine HiFi stereo.

I purchased the car in January 2023 due to the spec of the car, with the idea of using it to commute for a new job I had just started. Only a week into said job, I moved to fully remote and so the car has been surplus to requirement since. The car has needed a fair bit of TLC, some of which I knew about, and some I didn't.

The car needed the electronic parking brake addressing when I purchased it, this is a very common issue and was fixed with replacing the parking brake module with a new one from Jaguar, as well as replacing the caliper with a new used one and adjusting the parking brake drums themselves. Another issue then presented itself in the form of the car running rich but not throwing a check engine light. This was from the O2 lambda sensors going bad, not uncommon for a car this age but XJ's/ S-types of this era don't flag this as a problem for some reason. The car would run rich on and off. All four O2 sensors were replaced with Original Denso sensors. Sadly, the car had been running rich for too long and had damaged the catalytic converters, so these were also replaced on both banks. I've had both the gearbox oil and differential oil replaced as well as the brake fluid.

The car has also had, new Original ignition coil packs and spark plugs, new intake manifold gaskets, new front discs and pads, the rears also are quite new. Four new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres with alignment. These cars also suffer from parasitic drains which can leave the battery dead within a week. I had the headlights polished as they were getting cloudy and this caused one of the bulbs to fail. I replaced the ballast with a used Jaguar part, a new Hella igniter and Phillips xenon bulb. This fixed the headlight but also fixed the parasitic drain. The car has regularly sat for over two weeks and can be started with no issue. I did also replace the battery with a new one when I first purchased the car. Most of this work was done by Jaguar Specialist P C Autos and my local garage I've used for many years.

As you can see, I've addressed most of the issues these S-Types have. However, there are still some issues as you would expect with a car this age. The corners of the front driver and passenger doors do have some slight bubbling from corrosion, as well as around the kickplates in the rear doors. The car also has a scratches on the rear bumper and a stone chip on the drivers door (See pictures in listing). Nothing serious and the car is clean underneath but if you wanted to get the car back to a 100%, it is something you'd want to address. The headliner is also sagging, another common issue. It didn't bother me personally but it was something I planned on addressing at some point. There are also some scratches on both front side windows. Mechanically, the only "issue" is that there is a wheel bearing in the rear that makes a noise at only around 30 mph. When I had the diff oil replaced, I asked the mechanic if he could tell which one it was, but he was unable to confirm which side it was, only that it was indeed a bearing. Other than that, the car drives fantastic. The manual gearbox with the sports pack means it's a very fun and composed in the corners, whilst still being a comfy and quiet car on the motorway.

As you can probably tell, I'm very fond of the car. I'd rather not sell it, but I'm currently planning on buying a house in the very near-future, and I already have a 3 Litre V6 manual X-type, which is a bit more fun in the corners. So, sadly this is the car that has to go. If you would like anymore pictures or more details on anything, please feel free to message me.
