Lotus Esprit S3, 1985, 44, 500 miles, dark blue Essex metallic
A unique opportunity to purchase a naturally aspirated Lotus Esprit S3 which has been in the same family ownership since 1987. This Esprit has been loved and meticulously looked after, garaged and never been used in the winter or in poor weather conditions.
This gorgeous Esprit is completely original and has covered just under 44, 500 since new. It has been well maintained and serviced by a Lotus specialist technician, the car has an MOT from November 2023. Here are some of the maintenance works carried out; water pump overhaul, new coolant hoses, heater hoses, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, cam belt kit, shock absorbers along with a new battery and fuel breather pipes in 2023.
It is finished in dark blue Essex metallic paint (code A34) and the body is in exceptionally good all-original condition and does not require any attention - it has a deep shine. It has the original gold coach lines and Esprit S3 branding.
The car has the benefit of a full sized, tinted glass factory fitted sunroof which is removable. Along with this, is the sunroof’s airfoil finished in dark blue Essex paint and the original stowage bag to protect the glass sunroof whilst in the boot of the car.
The BBS wheels were refurbished and the colour gold was chosen to match the gold coachwork. The factory colour for the wheels was silver however, the gold paint works well with the dark blue Essex paint.
The interior of the Lotus is in excellent original condition and is finished in a champagne and dark blue leather and fabric. The binnacle, the upper part of the dash and steering wheel are finished in dark blue leather which beautifully complements the rest of the champagne colour leather dash and interior. The only area which requires attention is the driver’s side seat where some minor stitching is required.
The Lotus is also fitted with a Blaupunkt Blue Dot four speaker radio cassette player which was a factory fit.
Under the bonnet it is in pristine condition and has the original steel white get-me-home wheel which has never been used and tool bag, along with the vehicle identification plate showing VIN, engine number and paint code. The boot and engine compartment are in excellent condition as are the carpeted areas and engine cover, it comes with the original boot’s tonneau cover.
For the enthusiast and collector there is an extensive folder of information which includes; receipts, MOTs and tax discs. In addition, the car has the original Bell and Coalville rear window sticker, unused Bell and Coalville key fob, Bell and Coalville branded number plates and showroom brochures. The Esprit currently has a cherished number plate 10V ME - which spells LOV ME. The inspiration for this registration was the James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me - this combination is a true tribute to the Esprit and the James Bond OO7 film.
The 1OV ME registration is available by separate negotiation and sale - it presents an excellent opportunity to retain this number with the iconic Esprit. The original registration number was B22 JRC and will be fitted if the cherished number plate is not purchased.
