Description

After 47 years of ownership, the time has come to part company with my square tube chassis, 1967 Ginetta G4. The car is unrestored with an extensive documented history and is well known to the Ginetta Owners’ Club. Over the years it has had components repaired or replaced as necessary, with original specification parts where available, thus maintaining the driving characteristics of the period. The car is in good mechanical condition and has always been garaged. Bought secondhand in 1976 as a ‘road’ car, NAP 4F has a well documented competition history in race and speed events during my ownership. A 44 page photo book chronicling NAP 4F’s history will accompany the car.
This Ginetta retains its original body panels which were resprayed black, prior to my ownership. The paint has a number of micro blisters and stone chips whilst the fibre glass has some crazing, as might be expected from 96, 700 miles of road and competition use. 56 years of patina - the car carries its history with pride. Originally fitted with a 1500 pre-crossflow motor the Ginetta is currently running a largely standard crossflow 1600 Ford Kent engine on twin Weber DCOE 40s, with a Jenvey Dynamics low profile baffled aluminium sump, lighted flywheel and high capacity oil pump, and is producing around 75 BHP at the rear wheels - similar to its predecessor 1500 pre-crossflow ‘race’ engine. This is all the power you need in such a lightweight car. It handles beautifully and is a joy to drive. Ginetta factory records show that NAP 4F was originally painted in British Racing Green and fitted with 1500cc Ford Engine. Sold in component form, it was registered in East Sussex in October 1967 by a Mr Blake of London SW1. I purchased the car from a Mr Scott of Palmers Green in July 1976. This car is probably the most comprehensively documented and original G4 you are likely to find today. All the body panels are original whilst the chassis was repaired in 1980 to replace some rusted tubes and rejigged in 1981 following a racing accident at Snetterton. NAP 4F has covered some 25, 000 miles and passed countless MOTs since then.
The car has recently benefited from a ‘refresh’ including a new aluminium baffled fuel tank, Facet electric fuel pump and new fuel lines, 4 Blockley 165/ 13 tyres, a new Girling brake master cylinder and rebuilt clutch cylinders with silicon fluids and a purged cooling system with new antifreeze. The car runs on E5 petrol with a Miller’s additive and is running as well as ever.
A comprehensive spares package comes with the car, including an ex-modsports bonnet, rear body panel and boot lid, a spare windscreen and frame, a second set of period finned Minilite alloy wheels plus 4 Minilite magnesium wheels, spare rear axle with A frame and leading links, new Minifin alloy brake drums together with a myriad of hard to find smaller components. The remains of the 1500 ‘race’ engine and another complete 1500 motor together with sundry pre-crossflow components are available should you wish to build an early specification engine. More information available upon request. I am seeking £21, 750 for the car including the spares package.
