Description
Fully refurbed chassis/ rebuilt engine/ rebuilt diff. Look no further than my 1994 Griff 500 that I've owned for a very happy ~4k miles over a couple of summers. This car has had very devoted owners, as evidenced by many thousands spent in the past few years alone. Evidenced engine/ complete chassis/ diff rebuilds; our spend is your gain. I have well over an inch of invoices going back decades and even the original sales brochure all in its TVR leather portfolio that wears the car’s original registration number. Fresh MOT until April 2025, so it’s ready for summer. This car is first year of Borg Warner T5 gearbox and 340 BHP, marking the generation of Griffith to have.
Major work/ highlights:
- Full body off chassis repair/ replacement less than 10k miles/ 10yrs ago and powdercoated in white
- Engine rebuild 35k miles ago, including V8D MC1 mild sports camshaft (full detail below)
- Custom, fully adjustable, Nitron coilover suspension fitted within past few years (not cheap!). Great upgrade over Gaz shocks seen elsewhere
- Front discs + pads, ignition coil, ignition amplifier module, passenger door solenoid, pair of track rod ends and tracking done in 2024
- Rocker cover gaskets, cabin heater/ coolant mixer valve, oil pressure switch and sender in 2022
- New differential internals (previous owner - appropriately run in/ oil change evidenced)
- New alternator, earth leads, distributor cap/ arms, HT leads, spark plugs, speedomoter rebuilt in 2021. Receipts to fix hot start issues that these Griffs can be affected by, but not in the case of this one now.
- Radiator recored, thermostat, fuel pump, outriggers, cooling fan switch, top & bottom ball joints, susp. bushes (x16), susp. arms, differential mount (poly bush), engine mounts, handbrake cable, engine mounts, manifold gaskets, fuel filter in 2017
Details of engine rebuild:
- Relined block
- Acid dip
- Piston rings and big end shells
- V8 Developments MC1 sports camshaft and new lifters
- Polished crank
Imperfections to note:
- Small spatter of tiny stone chips over the nose, commensurate with age
- Scratch on bonnet
- Leather colour slightly worn on driver's seat bolster. Just needs a patch of recolouring
- Small split in fibreglass under the front number plate area, presumably from a nudge on a low curb at some point in its life
- MOT advisory that 4x new tyres will be needed at some point soon. Plenty of tread and drive well, they're just a few years old. I've left this to the next owner as tyres are a very personal choice! Toyo Proxes on the front and cheap ones on the rears. Despite being a no-name brand, they surprisingly do put the power down plenty well enough.
I have a full video walk around for close up details and highlighting any imperfections for prospective buyers, please provide contact details and I’ll send on and can
supply more should you need. Always happy to have a chat for your peace of mind. Only selling because I need my garage space back to buy another fibreglass British sports car - 60s Lotus Elan! All models have 'good years' and this is certainly it. 1994 saw the introduction of the much, much stronger Borg Warner T5 gearbox and the 340 BHP, 5L engine (before power was detuned to 320 BHP in 1997).
This car is an absolute blast with its rebuilt engine, chassis and premium suspension set up. It's a beautiful shade of dark blue that contrasts well with the cream leather.
