Description
An amazing time warp 70's Super Seven built originally a Lotus S3 super seven clone.
Recently recommissioned.
Built between 1975-8.
Short cockpit flat floor chassis number 67 from Arch Motors, all body parts supplied by Caterham. I have almost all of the build/ parts invoices dating back to 1976.
1700cc engine built from a new 711M block (in 1978) very high spec with twin 45 dcoes, Motronic electronic distributor, big valve head, vulcan winged sump etc, not yet run in.
Ford 3 rail gearbox
Escort rear axle.
Alloy bellhousing.
The car has been off the road for 30+ years but has been recommissioned, not rebuilt. It is in it's original condition with a few marks and a bit of micro blistering on the nose cone.
Work done:
Engine which was upgraded in 1990 fitted.
New st/ st fuel line.
Gearbox resealed.
New starter motor (hitorque)
New alternator
New throttle linkage
New callipers, brake cylinders, master cylinders and all hydraulic pipework.
New fuel sender unit.
New suspension bushes throughout.
Exhaust silence repacked.
Rationalisation of wiring
New Toyo tyres on original Revolution rims.
Has all original weather equipment.
I have fitted newer leather Caterham seats but have the very basic original cushion type seats.
Has done less than 200 miles on the upgraded engine, so needs running in although the set up is not too bad would benefit from a session on a rolling road. Should be 140bhp min.
I am selling because I can't fit in it to drive it. Would suit someone under 5'10". Built by a young aerospace engineer between 1975-78 as a custom build of a Lotus super seven S3 clone.
Passed to his brother who stored the car for approx 35 years.
Purchased by myself last year as a project which once completed I found the car was too small for me.
It has done 23000 miles from new.
It is unrestored, with patina intact, would have been the most extreme 7 back in the day, a really unique and fab bit of history.
