Description
1983 Citroen GSA Cottage Break
The cottage is the luxury version of the Gsa break (estate) made only for the french market. Production was limited to 1, 850 vehicles.
Registered as UK historic (tax and MOT exempt)
Imported by myself from Portugal in 2019 and driven back to the UK on what was an epic adventure.
Originally a French market car it has also lived in Holland and has been driven around Europe many times.
Once in the UK the car was taken to the chevronics centre to have it’s mechanical problems rectified. Amongst other things the engine was removed to have all its seals replaced. A new steering rack was fitted and many suspension bushes changed.
Invoices in the car if you wish to view. Around £5000 was spent.
A replacement gearbox was fitted at this time as the synchromesh wasn’t working. Unfortunately this gearbox has noisy diff bearings although the synchromesh is lovely.
The car was tuned at Tipton garage on the rolling road and is running nicely.
It has had four new tyres fitted
Apart front the noisy gearbox the car drives well.
Now for the bad part. The bodywork is scruffy and it will require new sills at the bare minimum.
I have bought two new sills, outer and inner.
There are also two nos rear doors, nos tailgate and a nos under tray. A good used bonnet and used front door.
These panels owe me around £1200. They can go with the car for an extra £1000
This is a car you need to view and make sure you are happy with. It does drive but the sills obviously need attention. I have been using it but not a lot.
