Description

Reluctantly considering selling my beautiful Rolls-Royce 20/ 25. Limousine bodied by Barker & Co in Masons black. A 1931 chassis registered in early 1932 to John Edward Singleton KC and later to become Sir John and Lord Chief Justice of Appeal. I am just the fifth owner, the previous 2 owners were father then son who were custodians for a total of 66 years ! You can tell how loved this car has been and much originality it keeps, it has a nearly full RR toolbox under the front seat along with the car jack , mallet and other pieces under the bonnet. Even the floor boards are original, take them up to inspect the chassis which you can see is in fabulous condition and the chassis number is stamped on the underneath of them ! The car continues to run on an auto-vac fuel supply, dynamo and standard ignition with working backup magneto. Recently all the oils were replaced and the car already has accumulated some 700 miles plus of private use driving this year already - it gets attention wherever it goes so you would need to be prepared for a lot of waving ! It is such a graceful looking car that starts on the button and is an absolute joy to drive once you have got to grips with the non synchro mesh gearbox. This is my first foray in to pre war cars but I’m told it drives exceptionally well indeed and the engine just purrs having been rebuilt some years back (I have a short video of a one pound coin balancing on top of the engine after its rebuild). Some interesting history with the car including a copy of the original sales order. I could go on forever about how nice this car is, but obviously if you’re a genuine buyer then you will want to come and look for yourself. The car is kept in vehicle storage so some notice is required to have it available for viewing and test drive (subject to status of course). If you’re in the market for a 20/ 25 then I genuinely believe that this must be one to consider. Located on the south coast, the port of Southampton is very close and convenient for shipping should the car be exported. Otherwise the New Forest is on the doorstep and has plenty to offer (including the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu) if you wanted to tie a viewing in with a stay down here.
