Description
This MGB GT is part of a deceased estate and is being offered as a lightish restoration project after sitting for 12 years in a garage following a hugely comprehensive structural restoration followed by the passing of the owner. Ideal for a father and son/ daughter project or a first classic car ownership project for an enthusiast. Or maybe you’re an MGB person who understands the value of a B that has been fully Waxoyled in all of the important places and who can easily deal with the restoration issues that lie ahead.
He bought the car at just 4 years old and the V5 shows a continual 42 years of ownership in his hands with just 69038 miles recorded. He and his wife were leading lights in the MG car club and cherished the car throughout the years.
Sometime in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, the car underwent a full structural restoration (seems that these MGs weren’t built to last!) and there is a photo album on file showing the work carried out, including floor sections, sills, new inner and outer wings, repair sections and floorpan.
The car was treated to a full Waxoyl treatment that has preserved the critical structure of the car amazingly, although since being laid up in a garage 12 years ago, the exterior panels have taken a bit of a beating and there’s now some light corrosion to corners, water traps and in particular the nearside door requiring attention.
I would describe the car as a truly FANTASTIC core car, with absolutely no structural issues that, with time, effort and some easy bodywork repairs attended to, will provide a low mileage and completely unmolested and pretty-as-picture MGB GT that deserves to be saved and enjoyed.
Wheel arches and underside are all excellent, Rostyle wheels x 5 are present. Invoices on file show restoration work and for some reason in its early life, a Gold Seal full engine replacement, so engine mileage is less than the 69038 on the clock, 4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive, Sparkrite Electronic ignition, alloy rocker cover, stripy cloth upholstery and a period glass pop-up/ removable sunroof add to the specification.
Be under no illusion though. This car needs some TLC and if you spent three months and £3000 on new doors, repairs, tyres and a respray, plus some mechanical fettling due to years of storage, you would have a wonderful late BGT with possibly one of the best histories and provenance imaginable.
Offered at a fixed price of £2000, with delivery by trailer at a reasonable cost available, this MGB comes with a file of paperwork, old V5s and some MOT certificates, original bill of sale and photo’s of its original restoration and attendance at MG shows.
If you want to discuss purchase and then having the recommissioning of the car carried out by ourselves as private classic car collectors
and specialists, please ask.
Genuine enquiries only please. You’ll love this car for its honesty, its 42 year ownership history and its unbelievable structural integrity. And its colour, which with Sundym tinted glass and Rostyle wheels make for a pretty car indeed once brought back to life.
