2008 FORD MUSTANG BULLITT
** Price reduction £18, 950**
The Ford Mustang was introduced in 1964 and became famous when driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 cop thriller "Bullitt", which featured a spectacular car chase through the streets of San Francisco between a Dodge Charger and a dark highland green Mustang GT Fastback. This car chase can be seen on You Tube and the eagle eyed amongst you may notice that McQueen's car has the registration JJZ 109.
Since 1964, there have been seven generations of the Ford Mustang, although it wasn't until 2001 that Ford offered a "Bullitt" version of the fourth generation SN95 Mustang. It was only available in Dark Highland Green, Black or Blue and was a modified version of the Mustang GT The Bullitt version was also offered on the subsequent fifth and sixth generation Ford Mustangs until it was discontinued in 2020.
By 2008, Ford were producing the fifth generation S197 Mustang and in that year they offered a "Bullitt" version of the Mustang GT. It was was available in only two colours, dark highland green or black, the 4. 6 litre V8 was given a slight power increase, an exhaust that was said to be tuned to sound like the original 1968 car and 18 inch Torque Thruster wheels, then the car was debadged and the rear spoiler removed. Each car was given its own unique number which was displayed on the strut brace.
This particular car is number 2601 in the series and in 2008 it was imported and registered brand new into the UK by a Mustang specialist and is in standard left hand drive (LHD) specification – it has no modifications with the exception of the rear lights which were modified to UK specification by the importer. It is registered on IMBOC (International Mustang Bullitt Owners Club).
I bought the car in February 2022 from the American Car Centre in Fulham and I'm the fourth owner. It had just over 25k miles on the clock then and the mileage now stands at 35498 miles. There was some service history present when I bought the car and I have since had it serviced twice at GT101 in Colchester (GT40 & American specialists). The wheels were refurbished and all four tyres were replaced shortly after I bought the car and I have added some “Bullitt” car mats front and rear. Last year I treated the underside of the car with Lanoguard. The car is MOT'd until 5th March 2025 with no advisories.
I have recently retired and therefore the Bullitt now gets very little use so it's up for sale. This is a private sale of a sixteen year old car. I am based near Colchester in Essex and I have a car lift to aid inspection.
AA/ RAC inspection welcome.
