GOOD TO KNOW: all trims still on the vehicle and no rust on any chrome parts, wheel arches, and underneath windscreens (common problems), all dashboard instruments working perfectly, all electric working perfectly (hazard warning switch see below), interior fabric-sky immaculate (no scratches, holes or discolouration)
KNOWN ISSUES: crack in the windscreen - very low behind the steering wheel (driving with it for 4 years), some scratches and dents due to its 55years of age, the dashboard has been covered with a dark grey carpet hence I suspect a crack due to sunlight exposure but never lifted it, hazard warning switch needs repair (probably wiring issue), front seats show small wear and tear and need TLC, door rubbers need replacement, bumper rubbers scratched and small corner parts missing,
OVERALL CONDITION: mechanically and interior very good - aesthetically some body-TLC needed, all chrome trims on a vehicle no rust. On my own condition scale from 1-10, I'd say: mechanically: 9, engine: 9, interior: 8, body: 7-28
REASON FOR SELLING: change of lifestyle

THE LEGEND "Stroke8"
When Mercedes introduced the W114/ 115 in 1968, they marketed sedans in two size classes (W114/ W115 and S-Class) and marketed the W114/ 115 range as New Generation Models,[4] ultimately the only model of the new generation. Mercedes used a '/ 8' on the W114/ 115 ID plates, indicating their 1968 launch year, giving rise to their '/ 8' or 'slash eight' nicknames — and the German nickname Strich Acht, loosely translated into English as stroke eight.
I bought the vehicle end of 2017 from its first owner. The 94-year-old German gentleman, who was a British war prisoner in India and repaired trucks, bought the vehicle in Jan 1970 from PORTER MERCEDES in Cape Town (original invoice available). He mainly worked on his car himself.
Sophie got her name from her very comfortable ride. When someone said "Driving in here is as comfortable as a sofa" her name was born. She is my daily vehicle and runs perfectly smooth with low fuel consumption, the interior is very well looked after and the exterior needs little TLC but not major considering her 55 years of age.
Sophie has been very well taken care of and loved. She rarely drives in the rain and of course, has got her own garage. She is a beautiful vehicle for the passionate Mercedes "Strich 8" enthusiast.
The engine and gearbox have just been overhauled. Therefore the vehicle will be sold with a 0km engine - head, valves, valve stem seals, pistons (Mercedes) with pins and rings, timing chain (FEBIE), timing tensioner (FEBIE), diesel pump (BOSCH), injectors, linkage bushes, crankshaft bearings/ seals, connecting rod bearings, sliding rails, exhaust gasket set, other seals, gaskets, bushes, etc. all new.
She is a real headturner and I am very reluctant to let go of her.
