Service records show much money spent keeping this Ducati in top condition.
V5C in my name.
It was once owned by Richard Llewellin of Luigi Moto who described it as the 'most original 748SP he had ever seen'. The only items not original from the factory are the tyres and chain as far as he could tell..
Letter confirming authenticity from Ducati.
Luigi Moto changed the belts, oil and filter (cleaned the pre filter also) and renewed the gear lever rubber (Richard's request - he loves the bike!) at a cost of £600. Little mileage since.
MOT until September 2025
Some of these on sale have many incorrect parts - the tank for instance - the early ones are flatter on the top. I've seen a few sold for big money with later tanks. The short chain guard is correct and original, the levers are also correct. The exhaust is also the correct 50mm system (Termis fitted) Again these are often swapped for the smaller 45mm items and the originals sold on. For those who aren't familiar with these Sports Production bikes they come standard with cast iron front discs, HC pistons, Ohlins rear shock, Carillo steel race con rods, race cams, unique ECU, a 50mm exhaust system, oil cooler, changed gear ratios and of course the monoposto seat and factory aluminium under frame.
Faults:- Common crack in temp gauge, minor paint defect to rear wheel. (I've left alone for the sake of originality) Yellow cover not perfect but good considering age and delicate material. Very rare and unobtainable now.

Richard Llewellyn did some research an concluded that this is the oldest 748SP in the UK. Only around 600 were built Worldwide in 1995, and it is likely that no more than 25 were imported to the UK and most went to race teams as the bike was made as a homologation machine for World Supersport winning the World title twice.
The 748SP (Sports Production) is one of the very rarest model of this shape. As far as surviving examples go this is the rarest.
Over £4200. 00 spent on servicing and preventative maintenance since 2011 (bills to show), Collectors grade motorcycle but with 8054 miles, summer use will not reduce value.
To ride? Completely different to any stock 748. The noise it makes is unreal - I've ridden many bikes including race machinery and many Ducatis but non raise the hairs on the back of your neck like these do! It's not fast by todays standards but that misses the point. Just lots of fun and feels like a race bike, which it actually is of course. This, as a 750, is how the bike was originally conceived. I've owned and ridden a 916 many miles and enjoyed it but this is a very different bike. Revy, flickable and addictive.
I really do not want to sell it but at 68 years old sadly 50 miles is about all I can manage now, so it would be better that it goes to someone who can enjoy it but also and importantly, to someone who will look after it!
With this mileage and in this unusually fine and original condition it will only maintain or increase in value.
£11, 495. 00 secures it. Advertised elsewhere.
