Description
Purchased in 1980 from the original owner who had always garaged it but not used for some 15 years due to his failing health. Currently with its second owner and continuously garaged since when approximately only 50 miles clocked up.
The 1946 log book records the engine size as 15. 7HP and the subsequent DVLA V5C obtained in 1980 shows the engine as 1939cc though subsequent correpondence with DVLA shows they believe 2057cc is the correct size. The engine is original to the car.
Although the body looks its age, new king pins and suspension shackle pins were fitted to pass its 1980s MOT since when the engine has been regularly started/ turned. Oils and lubricants, wheel bearings and brakes all serviced and fully functional braking servo. The rear shock absorbers were overhauled.
The interior lining was removed (available with car) in order to treat the the ash frame and interior of the aluminium body work in 1980.
The aluminium body, other than the bonnet and wings which are steel, is with its original paint.
The plan was to keep the car as original in appearance as possible hence its appearance. The chassis is intact and solid.
The car is complete (including widow roll down blinds, interior light fittngs, world war 2 headlamp covers, suspension spring leather gaiters etc.)
The car is believed to be one of only two surviving light sixs. This car has many appealing features such as restored opening roof, opening windscreen, squeeze horn (and electric), restored solenoid activated dip beam reflector dish (near side), restored wood flooring (easily removable) and grease nipples on so many moving parts as to make servicing an inexpensive option!
The soft leather back seat with its pulldown blinds, reading lights and ceiling string vest newspaper rack, make it a very unique travel experience - with ample room to stretch ones legs.
Outside at the rear is a pull out rack for picnic hamper or travel box.
The car comes with original log book and current V5c and the owner's knowledge of extensive works done since acquired in 1980.
