Description
This car was purchased in the U. S. A re-imported in 1990. Immediate improvements to the car included:-
Body stripped to bare metal. Repairs to front wings.
New doors and boot lid (aluminium)
Re-paint in Jaguar metallic silver cellulose.
Complete mechanical refurbishment in 1992 including:
Stainless Exhaust. Suspension.
Wiring loom. Reconditioned instruments.
New petrol tank. New wiring loom
New interior woodwork (by Classic Veneers)
Facet fuel pump. Manual choke conversion.
Currently fitted with an 'S' Spec. ('C' Type head) XK140 engine
The car was on loan to Jaguar Cars;- J. D. H. T Museum for 6 weeks in 1994, 4 weeks for publicity for press release of the XK8R. In 2005 it was loaned to Jaguar Cars for a press review of the X150.
More recently, the car has been re-commissioned by The Splined Hub and passed an MoT test April 2023. Work completed by Splined Hub included:-
Change all fluids and filters.
Replace left front lower wheel cylinder and test rest of braking system.
Left front hub very loose, service and adjust wheel bearing.
Both rear axle shaft tapers loose in hubs, lap and refit hubs to axle shafts. Left front lower ball joint loose, re-shim.
Replace both split lower ball joint gaiters.
Repair leaking intake manifold at defunct otter switch.
Repair fuel leak at rear carb
Set carbs and ignition timing.
Tidy fuel pump wiring.
New Diff. Seal.
