Description
Stunning TVR Chimaera 4. 5 in Formula Red with extensive specialist history. Currently on 95000 miles which will rise as it's often used. The next mot is due in January. In the last few years, the car has had a chassis rebuild which is still totally solid with only a tiny amount of purely surface corrosion, new wishbones, and fully adjustable coilover suspension. The engine was rebuilt approximately 17000 miles ago with all receipts to show for it, fitted with an upgraded Stealth race cam and a remapped Tornado ecu chip. The pre-cats have been removed, the manifold matched to the heads, and the exhaust has been sleeved giving a lovely sound. The car has had a fully retrimmed interior and a new hood by TVR specialist Dave the Trimmer. The power steering rack and windscreen have been replaced this month. New headlight lenses were fitted and are excellent. The wheels are immaculate. The paint has been ceramic coated. The stereo has been upgraded to a Pioneer DAB unit with built-in phone holder ideal for satnav. Basically everything which could need doing has been done. It was serviced last on 16th July 2024. The car has been looked after by TVR specialist Amore Autos for many years, and it's where I bought it from. The car will come with a fresh powder coated plenum and a plenum spacer, and a cable suitable to move the battery if you wanted, as I've never got round to fitting them. Next MOT due 10/ 01/ 2025, Red, 5+ owners, £17900. I live in Tenby, South Wales, but work in Avonmouth, so viewing is possible in both locations or anywhere in between. The cars history is well known in the TVR world, as it has featured in the TVR Car Club magazine. It's had six owners, most in the Bristol area. The longest owner, a doctor named Karl had the 'big bills' work done which are all documented with receipts in the history folder. This included a full engine rebuild with port matched manifolds and heads, a Stealth race cam, a Tornado chip with remap, and most parts apart from the block!
I bought it in January this year, as I had wanted another Chimaera since selling my first one 13 years ago. This was the best available at the time with the appropriate work done. Others had lower mileage, but not had the cam replaced which they will all need every 50k miles, unless upgraded to a Stealth cam. Some had new chassis outriggers, but not wishbones etc.
Obviously this brings the question of why I'm selling so soon! The simple truth is that it's no longer suitable for me. I live in South Wales, but am based in Bristol and Gloucester for work. I was mostly working from home, but that's now changed to a commute twice weekly. The car is great on the motorway, smooth and comfortable, and even gives around 25mpg! But it's not what I bought it for. There is also the matter of my physical size. I am 6'8 and 26st, and even though I fit, it's not the easiest to get in or out!
