Description
Patina on chrome and seats, no rust, restored from bare metal 2014-2018. MOT just done and no further work required which hasn't been dealt with. So here she is. The car I always wanted to put together - a fusion between originality which retains as much patina but not so much that it would detract from looking good and well cared for.
The only modifications have been a nod to every day driving practicality but using brand new parts where needed and nothing flashy looking. With the exception of my Oselli engine of course and its whopping 45DCOE Weber.
It has therefore been converted to more practical 12v negative earth and has a bluetooth Blaupunkt radio.
The GT sounds absolutely stunning and goes like stink when you want her to. She has a fully working overdrive on 3rd and 4th, returns over 30 MPG and is used every week, rain or shine. She has the odd blemish but no rust.
She has been the subject of an older bare metal restoration from 2014-18 when a well known YouTube Blogger bought it from a decorated retired police inspector who complete the majority of the work The Blogger (Iconic Brands) then made several videos about the car and its history
We believe (but can’t prove) that the mileage might well be accurate as the original car was left for many years after the passing of the 2nd and 3rd owners who were husband and wife. The online history checker seems to bear this out, but the original engine was sold after I had the Oselli professionally fitted locally by my classic car garage in March. The Oselli was bought directly from an enthusiast who is a consultant test engineer with JCB and is planning to install a race Zetec engine (gulp!).
I have a stack of invoices covering most of the replacement parts over the years, and since I have bought her last year, have had the car serviced a couple of times including a recent MOT to provide peace of mind for the next owner. Anything that has needed repairing or replacing has been meticulously done both by me and previous owners – switches, suspension, starter, wiper motor, whatever.
The unfortunate reason for having to now sell her is that we are moving to a new house which has no garage and only parking for 2 cars (we currently have 3).
Happy to take any more pictures or video firing up from cold.
I am open to a little wiggle room on price and happy to drive within a 30 mile of so radius to show her but it might be Cumbria, or it might be Leicestershire depending on when we move.
