Description
Manufactured on the 23rd September 1952 and dispatched to Hoffmans in New York USA on the 30th September 1952. The body colour at the time was Birch Grey.
This XK 120 OTS is an unrestored example, in excellent condition mechanically, having been recommissioned and fitted with sensible upgrades ensuring totally reliable motoring. These include, electronic ignition, high output alternator, Positive earth, new aluminium petrol tank, new fuel pipes, rebuilt brakes, front suspension ball joints and all bushes replaced, aluminium radiator, new coolant pipes, new facet fuel pump, fully rebuilt 2" SU Carbs, not the standard smaller carbs, this gives a big increase in torque and midrange. Re-trimmed cockpit roll, new tonneau cover, new Michelin X radial tyres fitted on body coloured wire wheels, stainless steel exhaust, heater drained and serviced and works perfectly, New Hardura boot mat fitted on to new replacement boot floor. New alloy bucket seat frames covered with aged red leather upholstery not only look the part but are comfortable and allows more room for the taller driver.
This example drives beautifully, sounds wonderful and is structurally excellent. Paintwork is crazed and aged, very much ‘in its own juices’.
The car is ready to get in and drive anywhere and enjoy. It is not a perfect restored car. But it retains ALL of its original numbered parts, and has the all-important HERITAGE CERTIFICATE confirming this. This is a U. K. registered car.
The car was originally finished in Birch Grey. The first owner (after owning it for three years) evidently wanted it in British Racing Green so it still currently wears its 1955 beautifully patinated original finish! The car was repatriated to the UK in 2021 from the second owner (of 34 years) from Wisconsin, USA
