Description
Unusual V3 liquid-cooled two-stroke from Honda, manufactured for about one year in 1983 for the Japanese domestic market, exported only in small numbers to New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland and possibly Italy.
Engine and gearbox rebuilt professionally by experienced Honda specialist in 2023. Receipts available.
Very good paint, rubber, seat and fixtures. Bike not ridden since restoration.
Two paintwork blemishes as shown in the photos.
Starts and runs perfectly.
Obviously neither left nor right-hand drive.
Comes with original toolkit, comprehensive Honda workshop manual, parts lists, owner's manual, some spares, and April 1983 "Two Wheels" road test for the model.
Offers considered. I bought this bike privately in New Zealand in 2020 because the engine configuration intrigued me and it had been on my bucket list for 40 years. It was allegedly in perfect running order. While cosmetically that was true, and the bike is stunning to behold, it was untrue of the engine and gearbox.
I had those rebuilt by one of New Zealand's leading Honda agents with new pistons, rings, head gaskets, head washers, clutch plates, 3rd and 6th gear countershafts and selector fork, some items of which I sourced new from a small specialist 2-stroke motorcycle workshop in Japan. The Honda agent also had the cylinder liners replated. The bike now runs very well, with the characteristic sound of a reed valve two-stroke engine.
I do not have a record of the machine's history prior to the previous New Zealand owner.
Collection and transport of the bike will be the buyer's responsibility.
