Description
MOT to 03-Aug-2025
Full service history with stamped service book and stack of receipts.
Major service Sep 2022: cambelt, tensioner, water pump (all OEM parts), aux belt, aircon belt, coolant, spark plugs, oil, filter, pollen filter, wiper blades.
New reconditioned cylinder head Feb 2024, plus new coolant hose set, new turbo and oil feed/ drain pipes following a HGF. Wynn’s Radflush then refill 50:50 OAT to deionized water. Oil and filter change.
KNOWN FAULTS:
!!! Small but persistent coolant loss. Tests point to this being from an Inlet Manifold leak. Viton gasket recently replaced and wedge washers applied per advice from Rover 75 & MG ZT forum. Appears to have improved but not cured. I would recommend fitting a new inlet manifold. Asking price reflects this. NB no overheating issues at all, even on long runs and sitting in traffic. 4, 000 otherwise trouble-free miles since new cylinder head and gasket fitted !!!
Paint on boot lid was damaged. I have resprayed but not polished, so it currently has a matt appearance.
Tear in driver seat bolster, and on cubby box lid. Crack in dash under each central vent. See photos.
GOOD BITS:
Presents well and drives very well and has had much work done and many small faults fixed in the last 2 years. Desirable ZT+ spec and with beautiful optional blue alcantara seats (option code: WTC). Car remains entirely in its original supplied specification. 2 keys.
No rust at all on bodywork. Surface rust forming on subframe rubbed down and treated with Bilt Hamber UB wax during services Sep ‘22 and Feb ‘24.
No warning lights. All electrics work well, including remote central locking and 4x electric windows. Aircon is cold.
Other work carried out in last two years: headlamp clouding treated with autoglym kit, new headlining fitted, new bonnet sensor, new reverse select sensor, new bonnet badge, 4x Avon ZV7 tyres (still in very good condition with 4mm tread front, 5mm rear), aircon re-gas. STP Ultra 5-in1 added on 54, 900 and 61, 708 miles. Car always run on Shell V-Power. Overall this is a beautiful modern classic, a piece of British motoring history and a wonderful combination of comfort and sportiness. I've always wanted to own one since seeing the first Rover 75s testing from the Cowley factory. The MG has the edge for me for driving pleasure and I tracked this one down based on its spec, condition and service history. I've spent two years cherishing it after it had been left stood and barely used for two years and was in need of some essential servicing and repairs. It's failed me just once when it lost all coolant and then the head gasket, probably in that order. It essentially now just needs its coolant leak sorting and then seems all set for many years happy service, with all other major issues typically facing these cars addressed. I'm overdue switching my attention to a new project so it's time for a new enthusiast to take over.
