Description
1985 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign 4. 2 litre automatic.
Cobalt blue metallic with doeskin leather interior.
Structurally and mechanically very sound and solid.
Fresh MOT.
5 former keepers.
85000 miles.
Electric sunroof. Headlining very good.
Everything works (even the electric seat height adjustment),
Central locking was a bit temperamental so I took the fuse out. I think the driver’s door mechanism just needs a clean and lubrication as this controls the system and it does work usually sometimes if you replace the fuse and lubricate the door mechanisms.
Bought 3 years ago from an elderly gentleman in his 80s who had owned her a long time and had retired to Southern Spain with her 25 years earlier.
So it was solid, never rusted or welded as it lived in the sunny dry Southern Spanish climate in his air conditioned garage along with the rest of his collection!
I’ve since spent £000s recommissioning, as he was old and wasn't using his cars much anymore, and so wnt through making all the mechanics good, eg £1k suspension and £2k break refurbs, big service, lots and lots of new parts, lots of fuel system parts renewed etc etc etc... I've probably spent over £4k since 2021, so it's on sale for basically half the money I have put in to it and drives fine.
But I have run out or time and space these days unfortunately, as a growing family and an imminent extension project about to start means demolishing the garage she’s stored in, and I need to be practical.
She does need some paint correction and just a couple of small bits of bubbling to address at some point but nothing urgent and could be DIY'd if desired. My approach was to get the mechanics sorted and then use and enjoy a little as it is and then later on invest in the aesthetics.
So it’s a good honest solid car, nothing hidden, loads or money spent (probably well over £4k in the last 3 years!), so it's now a well maintained car since I had it, although the last owner had lost the service book as he was quite elderly, about 86 I think he said at the time!
She has just passed her Mot the other day. And will be 40 years old next year, so about to be tax and Mot and Ulez exempt, which probably means it’s about to go up in value for the next owner!
A reluctant sale but I really need to extend the house so unfortunately she has to find a new home. Reasonable offers considered to find her a good home. As I say, a good solid honest sound car, drives well, will need some paint at some point as there’s some cracking from sun damage on the roof and one of the doors, and a couple of other small bits, it will come with a couple of cans of Jaguar Cobalt Blue paint as I had thought of trying sanding, fixing and spraying a little myself to improve the looks a little and make sure she remains solid and rust free, but leaving this for the next owner now to decide how they want to do it.
Also £2-300 of spare parts eg coolant hoses and badges for little projects that I didn't get around to doing.
There are not many of these left now, and you won’t find another that has not rusted before and been welded or indeed still needs welding, whereas this one was lucky to live indoors and in Spain most of her life so is structurally all good. Every time a mechanic has been underneath her they always comment how good she is underneath!
Is currently on a private plate which does not come with the vehicle and will be removed prior to sale.
