Description
Originally completed in October 2016, I am the second owner purchasing in July 2020. It has completed a guaranteed 1456 miles and comes with fresh MOT, showing no advisories. I have previous MOT's. I am only selling due to ill health.
It comes with a 21 page Build document that details every aspect of the build (warts and all!) from previous owner with full colour pictures, including the disassembly of donor Midget. Other documentation includes the factory build guide, original order details, a Haynes repair manual for a Midget, plus a comprehensive history of the donor vehicle.
The engine was reconditioned, the block bored out to 1330 cc, crank reground and polished, all by Southern Rebore. To help with breathing a Metro cylinder head from Janspeed Racing was purchased with slightly bigger valves. Head and valve ports polished. Camshaft replaced with a ST2 Piper Cam kit fitted with new double valve springs, vernier pulley, a new set of cam followers and a new slot drive oil pump from MED engineering. Carburation is via a Weber 40 DCOE. Not period, but a great induction noise! The car is estimated at running 80bhp. In such a light car C 450 kg, performance is lively!
The basic kit alone from Westfield is now £24K plus cost of donor vehicle
The car is presented in Lotus Racing Green, with mini light wheels, colour coded to the car. Tyres are new.
The car is faultless, as new, with desirable extras. Any inspection welcome.
It comes with a tonneau cover and lots of spares, that were provided by original owner.
Price. £21KThe original Lotus X1 was a successful racer between 1956-58. Only around 270 were built, notably finishing 7th overall in 1956 Le Mans 24 hour. I loved the look of the car back then and the recreation that is the Westfield X1 is a stunning homage. The original cars had a variety of engines fitted, So mine with a modified MG engine is not out of place in performance. It attracts attention wherever it goes and is a very rare sight. Now Chesil have purchased the original Westfield company from administration, spares are also readily available.
