Description
For sale is my beautifully original 1983 Mazda RX-7. I purchased this car in January 2017 from the second owner from new, who had dry stored it in a garage since 1994. Since then I have lightly recommissioned the car to a very tidy, original and reliable state. Below is a list of all work carried out in my ownership:
Fuel tank removed and sonic cleaned, fuel lines flushed
Fuel tank level sensor replaced
New fuel, air and oil filters
New engine oil
New differential oil
New oil cooler
New spark plugs and ignition leads
Coolant flush and change
Mishimito electronic adjustable fan controller
Uprated radiator fan
New alternator and air pump belts
New nearside headlamp bulb
New battery terminals and Yuasa battery
New front brake discs and fresh brake fluid
New brake master cylinder
New copper brake hard lines all round
Original wheels fully refurbished to a polished finish
4x new tyres
Front and rear bumpers resprayed
Full polish and detail finished with a ceramic coating, and all seals and trims cured
The underside of the car is in very solid condition, and is rot free with just some surface rust to be seen. All signs of rust have been treated with Kurust to ensure they spread no further. The only poor area on the car is the lower corners of both doors (see pictures) - I believe these must’ve held water when the car was stored as they have rusted through heavily. This could be repaired at a cost but has never bothered me and I was keen to leave the bodywork in its original state with its factory paint.
The interior of the car is exceptional. Everything is immaculate and works as it should; heating, electric windows, sunroof etc. The original spare wheel is also present which is a factory fresh 5th polished alloy. The only modification I’ve made is the wooden Nardi Torino steering wheel, which looks perfectly at home with the 80’s interior (original wheel will be provided with sale).
The car has driven just 49, 000 miles from new, and the 12A engine is sweet as a nut. Fully serviced, it sounds just as a rotary should and pulls along nicely in every gear. I’ve had the car MOT’d for the last 3 years and it is now declared as a historic vehicle, and all the paperwork with the DVLA has been completed meaning it is tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt. This is now a very usable and enjoyable classic car that I am gutted to part with, but a new project means this one must go.
