Description
I brought this Defender 9 years ago as a 200tdi van but after the engine went bang I decided to fully rebuild/ restore it and bring it up to modern standards. It’s only done just over 15, 000 miles since the rebuild. The list of spec and work it has had done to it is literally endless but here goes;
Galvanised chassis and bulkhead
Converted to a Td5, using all genuine engine and bulkhead looms and pipework etc. Engine was from a low mileage rotten Discovery
LOF Road spec clutch and flywheel conversion
LOF Power slave and uprated clutch spring (clutch is super light)
Syncro gearbox slick shift
Genuine Defender R380 gearbox completely rebuilt
GKN Electronic Overdrive (gives you a 6th gear)
Double cardon front propshaft (a lot less vibration)
Full onboard compressed air system with tank etc so you can run air tools and has an air horn
Twin fuel tank system (holds 100 liters)
Rear Bulkhead removed
New steering box
OME Steering damper
All new suspension and anti roll bars, -1" lowering springs, galvanised tubular turrets and all new bushes etc.
New brake discs, pads and calipers all round, drilled grooved and vented discs fitted to the front
Full custom respray inside and out in Range Rover SVR blue
Genuine county roof with alpine windows and sunroof
Speaker LED headlights and complete LED lighting kit
Masai sliding tinted side windows
Genuine safari snorkel
Completely sound deadened and carpeted - you can actually have a conversation while on the road!
Heated, electric adjust leather seats
Suede headlining and tweed dash
Apple car play stereo and full surround sound speakers and reversing camera
Custom professionally made solid wood cubby box
Smaller wooden steering wheel
30mm wheel spacers and Genuine Land Rover Boost alloys
Mantec swing away spare wheel carrier
All bolts replaced with stainless steel
Bad bits;
I managed to loose the diff lock linkage while the gearbox was away being rebuilt so you can't select diff lock - its never worried me as I don't take it off road!
Someone knocked it in a car park on the rear left hand quarter, not badly, but has cracked the paint!
The paint is a bit tatty in places - it is 7 years old now so has the odd marks etc.
If I was keeping it I would replace the exhaust, its a bit tatty.
Being as honest as possible - one of the tyres has a slow puncture, I'll try and get it fixed before sale though.
This Defender has been my pride and joy for many years and I've loved every minute. I recently took it up to Scotland and back with no issues. Sadly I've lost storage for it, but I'm very sorry to see it go.
A bespoke Defender, a real head turner and gets compliments where ever it goes.
Any viewing, inspection or test drives welcome.
