Description

First Registered October 1st 1984. Current Mileage 106, 090. 1984 Porsche 924 2. 0L 4 cylinder.

Runs and drives but needs finishing off to make the car road worthy. Trailer required.

I brought the car in November 2022 running and driving with some areas needing addressing but nothing major to stop the car driving. Done 100 miles in the car and has been off the road since since March 2023. The clutch cable snapped during a drive caused by a worn clutch. From there it turned into a project car. The MOT ran out in March 2023 and has not had a new MOT due to the time to address the works for it to pass an MOT. This car will be Tax & MOT exempt next year. The car runs and drives (see content below of work completed) but needs finishing off by someone with the appreciation to get it road worthy.

About the car. 11 previous owners. From the history it looks to have been enjoyed for a short while before being past on to the next person. There are no signs of this car having any restoration or major work completed, mainly the odd job here and there when needed over the years. Car colour Sapphire metallic silver. Original pasha interior, interiors in great condition for a car this age, clean and seats are comfortable. The dash is not great with cracks but nothing physically effecting the function of the car interior components. Has the original optional extras, electric wing mirrors, headlight washers, remote boot lid, turbo style rear mud guards. Heat and air con all working. Has sunroof and bag however, this is the one electric component not working. The button opens the sunroof but won’t close it, I have taken the arms out the sunroof to be able to close. The car will come with an outdoor car cover purchased from Classic Additions. I have the original manuals & maintenance records with stamps and a good amount of receipts of previous parts and work completed. Two keys. The seals on both sides are good and there is no physical rust on the car with the body and chassis in good condition. There are some areas of surface rust to be cleaned up from bad paint jobs in the past. The black paint on the seals was removed by the previous owner, however needs repainting properly before rust becomes an issue. I have some new parts that will go with the car & and an Haynes manual. These are a gasket set (can’t by some gaskets individually have to buy a set), seal for gearbox housing, 4 CV joint boots and some exhaust hanger rubbers. Most the parts on the car are all original except the clutch which I still have.

Since owning the car I have carried out the following works:
New battery.
New clutch (Sach Manufacture), pressure plate, release bearing, clutch pilot bearing sleeve and crank oil seal. Including new fly wheel bolts.
New clutch cable and accelerator cable.
Spent £3k to have the car rewired by karmann Konnections. It had an immobiliser installed and various bad fixes over the years needing to be put correct to make the car safe and operational. The closing the sunroof still doesn’t work, the cause unknown.
Replaced gearshift joint rod with an adjustable rose eye joints and turnbuckle link.
The brackets underneath the come have been cleaned and repainted. Including the gearbox external housing and gearbox brackets.
Replaced most the bolts for the brackets, bell housings either end of the gearbox and engine.

To getting the car road worthy it needs the steering system aligning, brakes work but need a service, new cam belt. Suggest some new fuel lines where the some rubbers are starting to go old and brittle. Areas of the car paint to address to stop surface rust developing and the engine could do with a better tune up for smoother running. The car starts hot and cold no problem.
