Something for true connoisseurs: a beautiful Jensen Interceptor. This British GT was manufactured at the Kelvin Way Factory in Birmingham from 1966 to 1976. Unlike the first vehicle of the same name, which was produced in the 1950s and was largely made of fiberglass, the engineers of the presented vehicle returned to steel. The design of this elegant coupe was not done by just anyone—it was created under the direction of Federico Formenti from Carrozzerie Touring in Italy. Several of the first pieces were also made there (this time at Vignale), before production was moved to Great Britain with minor changes. A total of about 6, 408 cars were produced in three versions, with several hundred of them being convertibles.
Jensen used V8 engines from Chrysler. It started with the 383 cui (6. 3 liters) engine, which could also have a manual transmission, but most cars had the TorqueFlite automatic transmission. This transmitted power to the Salisbury rear axle through a limited-slip differential. In the early 1970s, it was produced practically in two versions—the base Interceptor Mk I, II, and III, and then the S. P. version, which had a more powerful 7. 2-liter engine under the hood.
However, even the "base" version of such a unique car is not bad—it's worth noting that the V8 383 boasts an output of 245 hp at 4800 RPM and 441 Nm at 3400 RPM (this is the power that actually reaches the wheels, with gross horsepower values of 335 hp and 556 Nm). It’s clear that a GT weighing around 1. 8 tons can perform admirably due to its substantial torque, and the dynamics accompanied by a great sound are more than dignified.
The offered car is in nice, original condition, with minor signs of easily manageable rust. The important thing is that it is complete and fully functional. Mention should be made of the very nice leather interior with sufficient luxury befitting the class of large GTs. Additionally, the vinyl roof and chrome trims are in very good condition, and the mechanics are functioning properly. The car, in a beautiful color combination, has European documents and is ready for registration.
