Description
Austin Mini Cooper Mrk II, 1968, tartan red & black.
This car has been in my family since 1977 with two previous owners, all of whom were based in South West Wales.
It was extensively renovated in the 90's by my father who was a mechanic and Mini Cooper enthusiast, and gifted to me in 2022.
Since taking ownership, it has been managed by a classic car mechanic who has undertaken all required work to ensure it is structurally and mechanically sound. It has 43337miles on the clock and has a valid MOT until mid January 2025.
The body work has three small areas of bubbling, approx 3-4cm sq, as shown in the photos and some rust appearing alongside the front bumper. There is also a small chip in the front far side wing.
The passenger seat has a tear in the vinyl, which looks like a repair was attempted in the past.
To my knowledge there has only been one adaptation to the vehicle and that was the installation of a speaker on the back ledge - probably at my insistence as a teenage driver. However it was never connected to a radio!
It's a great little car and runs really well. I'll be sad to part with it. This car has been cherished over the years, always kept in a garage and latterly in order to preserve her as best I can, I rarely take her out in the wet! She is a great run around and fun to drive, with all the original features.
The car was handed down to me by my mother in October 2022. She in turn had owned it from Feb 1995, after my father handed her ownership as a birthday gift. My father had been the registered owner since May 1977 after purchasing the vehicle from Mr & Mrs Thom of Neyland, Pembrokeshire, who bought it from Llandisillio Garage in 1972. I believe that the first owner, a Mr Evans from Pembroke Dock had bought it as new from this garage. So only two previous owners before my family.
