Description
316i Auto. 2 door, Alpine White II. Runs well. Solid shell. Interior is in very good condition with no tears on the seats and only small crack on dash. No rust in normal places like scuttle and battery tray. Non-sunroof model.
I’ve extensively rejuvenated the car over the last two years. This includes replacing:
- Fuel tank.
- Sub-frame and trailing arm bushes,
- Brake pad and discs. Rear drums, pads, cylinders and brake lines to rear.
- Springs and dampers with Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit suspension kit, Bilstein top mounts and new rear rubber mounts.
- Radiator.
- Rear bearings and hubs.
- Exhaust back box.
- Rebuilt steering rack and pump with new belt and inner and outer tie-rod ends.
- Diff from car on 77K miles. Oil leak noted on 2023 MOT was from diff. It was a bit whiney so I just replaced it.
- Rebuilt drivers door lock with OEM rebuild kit. Central locking and deadlock works perfectly.
- Lots of other small bits like new badges, wing mirror glass, window cut-off, trim pieces etc.
Also extensive servicing including fuel pump, fuel/ air/ oil filters, spark plugs, ignition leads and transmission fluid. Cambelt/ water pump changed 2022. Car in on genuine BMW/ BBS 15” Style 5s on nearly new Kumho Ecstas. Car was last serviced in July 2024.
Car is now where I wanted it mechanically. Makes a great weekend cruiser or engine swap candidate.. I intended for the car to be a keeper, but sadly a combination of ULEZ and losing my parking space means I’m just not using it as much as it deserves.
It’s not perfect though:
- The car looks great from a few paces, but has a number of small scratches, stone-chips and some small grazes on the bumpers. It looks good, but the photos may flatter it slightly. It is not concours anyway.
- Wiper motor is also a bit weak and doesn’t work properly at the lowest setting. I have a replacement motor, but as I don’t drive it in the rain it just never made it to the top of the to-do list.
- Last MOT there was an advisory for the handbrake. Essentially when you disengage it the handbrake light can sometimes remain on, but it goes off if you just give it a tap.
- The front wheel bearing has just started to make a noise so needs replacing.
If desired the car will come with it’s original 14” bottlecaps (with ageing but well treaded tyres), a spare 15” wheel (no tyre), stock non-sport steering wheel, original radio (which works, but the LCD screen is barely legible), original diff, wiper motor and a bunch of original and spare parts as well as service items which I bulk bought having intended to keep the car (I like to use Hengst filters from Germany so still have a few of those). Happy to answer any questions. Open to offers, but not silly ones please.
