Engine runs lovely as you'd expect from a diesel mercedes. I changed the oil less than 2000 miles ago, Liquimoly oil and a Bosch filter, not cheap, crap parts.
I normally only buy manuals, although that is more W201s and W124s, I ventured out with an auto with his and I was astounded, these 722. 6 5 speeds change gear perfectly, so smooth, no surging, no hesitation to decide what gear to be in, everything I didn't experience from automatic W124s. I'm almost an automatic convert...
Bodywork - I'll dig out the paperwork but there's an invoice of over £1600 for bodywork amongst it, welding up (if I remember rightly), rust protection and paint which leaves the car looking brilliant for the age that it is and absolutely rock solid. No rust anywhere except a scab on the boot lid and a bit of orange staining on the driver's sill which just needs a clean and seal. A properly solid 202 which is pretty rare in itself..
Suspension - No loose bushes, feels and handles nice and tight, very little body roll (but I do daily a W124 250D). Just had 2 new rear springs. Not a lot else to say about it, drives smoothly but isn't afraid of corners.
Brakes - Not needed any work in my ownership. Work perfectly.
Wheels/ Tyres - When I bought the car it came on 18" Monoblock replicas, I wasn't a fan so I sourced a set of original wheels as I like original and prefer the smooth ride of a bigger tyre. I hadn't intended to buy a set with a non-standard finish but I thought these looked lovely; the camera is a bit deceiving, they are lighter than shown in the photos but suit the car well IMO. Just had 4 new Yokohama tyres less than 3000 miles ago.
Please disregard the subwoofer, I'm not a chav blasting Macky Gee in a KFC car park with a NOS canister glued to my mouth, I just like good sound. I should note though that it's not included with the car. There are trim pieces currently missing where I was going to replace the OEM rear door speakers and tweeters in the dash but haven't got round to it; they are here and present and I will aim to re-fit them before sale.
I changed every filter I could find less than 6 months ago. Anyone who knows me knows that I maintain my cars like I'm going to keep them forever (rare I actually sell one), mechanically at the very least, I'm not one to fawn over aesthetics.
Not much more to say about it, you'll know what you're looking at if you're reading this advert. Any more questions, please call me.
