Description

Selling my classic 1993 Saab 900 16v XS (2 litre). Mechanically sound (starts every time) and minimal-to-no rust. Recent MOT (July) passed with no advisories and recent service incl. new brakes and lights. 194k miles: high mileage hero. 15 years’ worth of documented service history dating back to 2009 which I’ll include (only missing 2022 docs). Comes with a 2nd key and 2 manuals, as well as some spare parts. All electronics including sun roof and window work. Heating works. Tape-to-aux included. Plenty of tyre tread left. There’s also a brand new steering lock I’ll include. No rust underneath, a few dots on the sills and none on the arches (museum standard!). Tiny hole in the right fender (pictured) where a previous owner elected to remove some rust developing; it is purely cosmetic but spare fender is included nonetheless. Also paintwork on that existing fender isn’t factory-standard (evidence of a previous owner doing it themselves) but pictures show it’s inconspicuous. No roofliner sagging. Body in good condition e. g. evidence of welding being done in the usual places like the boot. The dash is cracked in places (very common). Novelty headlights nor the rear wiper work—neither of which was or is needed to pass an MOT (also the rear window is slanted enough that it’s not an issue in the rain). Another common Saab issue is the driver side windscreen wiper currently doesn’t work—the reason is the cable in the wiper mechanism snapping. It’s a simple fix and just needs to be rethreaded; I will include the spare cable needed to fix it and there are walkthrough videos/ forums—the AC compressor is not in the way with this model. All of these are easy fixes and, apart from the driver’s wiper, just don’t need to be fixed. I just haven’t had the time to fix it.

… which brings me to my reason for selling. I thought I wanted to join the classic car club but in reality I just don’t have the time or passion (patience) to tinker—despite how simple these engines are. I had looked up reliable and ‘boxy’-styled (i. e. bloody cool) cars and, having scoured the 900 market, found this at a great price from the previous owner because he was getting crippled by Epsom ULEZ after a change in work schedule (and then couldn’t justify taking up limited parking for occasional use). I was in the area seeing my brother so I impulsively bought it as a well priced opportunity because my mum told me how hard it was to sell her ULEZ-riddled car in London. He said the wiper stopped working just before I bought it (diagnosed by a receipted mechanic) and just ran out of time to fix it himself before I visited—hence providing me the part. As I said, I just can’t be bothered to tinker after all so I’m looking to sell it whilst it’s still in immaculate condition. He also said the receipted Saab specialist said the engine was healthy. All told, I brought it up to Bedfordshire (3 hour drive with no issues) to sell on.

Please PM for any questions. Price is fairly fixed. Please do your research and compare this MOT history with others’ of this model and you’ll see how clean this is. Happy to provide my eBay or even depop account to prove I'm a legit seller with ~150 100% positive reviews when selling in the past. The 16V is an upgrade to the normal 8V 900 in both performance and efficiency, and 1993 is the most recent year of the classic series. Good acceleration. The cars are known for being reliable. Main thing is minimal to no rust with no advisories on the MOT and the fact that it starts every time. Engine is healthy - as confirmed by SAAB specialist. It's a clean example of a 900.
