Description
Lowish mileage Volvo C70 mk1 Coupe automatic in striking factory Saffron Yellow (orange) colour scheme, in very good condition for the year.
This 1999 model is a fine example, in far better cosmetic and mechanical condition than most surviving, I would say. Its paintwork is generally excellent with no dents or obvious accident damage, and still has a good lustre. Inside, the half-leather interior is very clean with no nasty marks and the driver's seat is not worn. Headlining is perfect. The underbonnet section is extremely clean with no obvious signs of any fluid leaks.
It has had a comprehensive bout of maintenance recently, to make it drive as good as it looks. The engine oil and filter have been changed, and the automatic gearbox was flushed with the correct ATF oil. The coolant has been changed and 5 new NGK Iridium spark plugs were fitted. The power steering fluid was flushed, and the brake fluid bled and refilled. A new battery has been fitted. New front and rear brake discs have been fitted, and new track rod ends, anti-roll bar bushes and drop links. Also, new front and rear shock absorbers were fitted with new top mounts. Last MOT had no advisories and expires June 2025. It has a full stamped service history, with recent cambelt.
With new Continental front tyres, the car drives very well indeed. It feels sharp and crisp, and much tighter than all the tired-out cars that I drove before I bought this. The i5 turbo engine is absolutely glorious, smooth and silk and very torquey thanks to the turbo.
It's not flawless – there are a few light paint marks and gravel rash on the front bumpers, some slight cracking of the paint on small parts of the rear bumper, and a tiny slither of cracked paint behind the driver's side rear wheel arch – but it's barely visible. The rear window surround isn't cosmetically perfect, and the interior courtesy lights need sorting. Also, the alloy wheels could do with refurbishing at some point. Generally speaking though, it is still in super condition for a 1999 car. This is a really nice example of a rare classic Volvo that's still fairly low mileage – in the best colour for the C70 – and is mechanically very good. It's fun to drive but very comfortable with it. It can comfortably seat 4 adults too, unlike some coupes.
I only am selling this to fund a Jaguar XJ-S restoration, and could also use the space. I'd love it to go to someone who could do a wee bit of detailing to bring up to show quality, which it is already pretty close to.
